A short introduction
Ubuntu Touch is a mobile operating system that was developed by Canonical Ltd, and later on the Ubuntu community. The operating system was designed for touchscreen mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. The goal for Ubuntu Touch was, and still is, to reach full convergence. The project of creating Ubuntu Touch started in 2011, but in April 2017 the founder of Canonical Ltd. announced that the company planned to stop developing convergence, Unity 8 and Ubuntu phones and tablets. After this announcement the project was picked up by us: the UBports community. The programming source code for the project was, thanks to the hard work of many volunteers, picked up and moved into the free software community where the Ubuntu Touch project could not only be maintained but also expanded. It is our goal to keep the framework of the original Ubuntu Touch alive and on all originally supported devices.

Ubuntu Touch has been designed with attention to detail. From edges that enable you to navigate faster to details like the striking clock face, nothing has been overlooked in the quest for mobile perfection. Ubuntu Touch offers an intuitive interface and everything you need from a PC, in a tablet or phone. Enjoy all the power of Ubuntu Touch at home, at work or on the move.

Ubuntu's scopes are like individual home screens for different kinds of content. They collect everything, from movies, music, social media and local services, so everything you look for in life is right at your fingertips.

Scopes are easy to create and give users a new mobile experience where content is more customizable and easy accessible.

Today's mobile devices are as powerful as laptops, which means they are capable of convergence. With Ubuntu's convergence features, you can now get a full PC experience on your mobile device. You can create and access documents, presentations and spreadsheets with LibreOffice.

Simple connect a mouse and keyboard wirelessly to your mobile device when it's time to get something done, whether it's serious work or just for gaming. To enjoy your content on an even bigger scale, you can connect your device to a monitor. Ubuntu Touch is the best of both worlds: portability and big-screen productivity.
